In all, nine FGDs were organized in three villages of the Njinikom Valley namely : Njinikom proper, Wombong, and Balikomato. For each village, three sessions were organized: one for adult men (20 years and above), one for adult women (20 years and above) and the other for adolescents (12 - 19 years) of both sexes.
To select participants for the group discussions, we administered a FGD screening questionnaire to community elements on a very random basis. From the questionnaire we were able to select eligible candidates for the discussions. Criteria for selection included age, sex, occupation, ethnic group and level of education. The essence of this exercise was to control for homogeneity among the discussion participants.
